Hello and welcome to February's issue of the Jibbering Newsletter!
First the Bad News-- Jibbering Records To Close
After 8 and a bit years of struggling against the unrelenting tides of change that have swept through the music industry, Jibbering Records, our little orange sanctuary, will close on the 21st February 2009.
This is not the end of Jibbering though! Oh No No! Jibbering is just getting the hell out of retail. We have serveral seriously exciting projects in the offing and the future of Jibbering is looking better than ever! For starters, we are all set to move into a new multi-use venue/arts centre in Digbeth, The Wild Building. More details and rumours will be available from the shop and at the Yaaba Funk gig on Saturday.
In the meantime, here's an important detail... Our closing down sale will run from Mon 9th - Sat 21st Feb and all stock must go so expect at least 50% off everything!
So, come to the shop, grab a bargain, chat about old times, winge about the world's general decline and learn about the next chapter of Jibbering!!
The first Jibbering Session of 2009 will be a much needed winter warmer as we welcome the fattest and tightest Afrofunk band this side of Accra- Yaaba Funk. During the past few years this Brixton based funk machine have been building a strong following and have left audiences exhausted after their stunning live shows- anyone that caught their set at Shambala last year will surely testify to this!
Alongside Yaaba Funk, the Jibbering DJs will be serving another fruity platter of reggae, funk, heavy beats and some worldwide treats and special guest Mark Magoo will rip it up in a Latin style. Added to that, it's Jibbering Jon's birthday- so no excuses will be accepted!!
Sat 7th Feb @ The Hare and Hounds 9pm-2am
Tickets, for the last time, can be picked up at the shop or you can buy them online.
The next (and last) art exhibition in Jibbering Records opens next Friday, the 13th Feb!
"The Shape of Things to Come... and Have Been" by James Dawson will be an exhibition of original artwork exploring the Philosophy of Interconnectedness. Please note that flyers and press state that this will finish on 11th March, however, it will actually finish on 21st Feb.
For further information on this exhibition and for details about the change of venues for future art show, please go to www.jibberingart.co.uk.
